Care of the Soul
I will learn to see soul in everyday things. It is not life that needs to be different but my view of life. Little things, small soulful moments will catch my attention. I will see and notice soul's attempt to work its way into my day. I will allow the poet, the artist in me to come forth. After all, poetry and art begin in the mind. They are first and foremost a way of seeing, a method of synthesizing life. When I allow myself to be a poet or an artist, I combine the colors and impressions of my particular life in the manner that best suits me, that carries and communicates the most personal meaning.
I will paint from my own palette.Care of the soul is not solving the puzzle of life; quite the opposite, it is an appreciation of the paradoxical mysteries that blend light and darkness into the grandeur of what human life and culture can be. Let us imagine care of the soul, then, as an application of poetics to everyday life. What we want to do here is to re-imagine those things we already understand.
