Bringing Home the
Bread One day, a student went to his teacher and said, “How am I supposed to be busy learning spirituality if I need to bring home bread?” The teacher replied, “When you are in business and you need to measure something and you give a just measurement, that is spirituality. When someone needs to borrow and you are there to share, or when you know you can get even and don’t, that’s spirituality. It’s not just about bringing home the bread; it’s about how you go about your business.” You can learn how to fly an airplane online, but you cannot really know how to fly until you are in the sky among the clouds. In the same vein, you may learn to be spiritual by mediating, or even by sitting and studying a spiritual book, but real growth doesn’t come until you know that even though there are people around you that don’t wish you well, you still need to reach out with love. It isn’t what you learn, but the way you act because of what you have learned. |
If this is the first time you have come across this material and you think that you have come across it by accident or happenstance, think again. This material came to you at exactly the right time, in exactly the right way, in answer to your mind’s search and your heart’s prayer and your soul’s invitation. BELIEVE IT.
