Looking In

Just what I need this ULD!  I am so, so grateful.

Do you ever start talking to the television when you’re watching a really good movie? Especially anything with drama, action or suspense; sometimes it’s so obvious to us what the characters should do to get out of the sticky situations. If it’s a scary movie, I think, “Why is she running up the stairs instead of out of the house?” or if it’s a suspense type film I start saying, “Turn around! The bad guy is right behind you!”

This doesn’t just happen in the movies, but also in our own lives. Maybe we’re watching a drama unfold between two friends, and we’re thinking how clear it is what they need to say and do for each other to resolve their issues. Meanwhile, we have people in our own lives we just can’t seem to connect with. We don’t know what to say or do to bridge the gap between ourselves and a co-worker, or how to mend a deteriorating friendship, or reach out and be there for a family member.

When we’re on the outside looking in we have all the answers. It’s only when we are personally involved in the drama that the truth becomes muddied.

We rarely look at things in our lives with detachment. Detachment doesn’t mean not caring; it’s about observing our lives the way we would if we were in a movie with actors and scenery that we’re not connected to in a fundamental way. When we see things from the perspective of how they affect us and what is ours, we immediately connect with the Desire to Receive for the Self Alone.

To connect with the Light, we have to try looking at things from a distance, objectively. The only way we can begin to know the right thing to do is by looking at things outside of ourselves.

Let’s try to find at least one conflict in our lives this week where we can put this to the test. Maybe if we can just take some time to picture in our head a couple of strangers in the same situation and ask the Light to guide us, we will see more clearly what we can do to help resolve the problem.

When we remove our personal feelings from any situation, our eyes are able to see the truth clearly.

All the best,
Yehuda

DIALING GOD

I will quiet the static that blocks my spiritual path.

I see chaos and difficulties, negative energy that I have created, standing in the way of my Light source.

One by one, I remove the obstructions.

As I throw them away, the Light becomes brighter and clearer. I am connected to the Light source.
