Leadership

Leadership

The very essence of leadership is that you have a vision. You cannot blow an uncertain trumpet. -Theodore Hesburgh

I suppose it is a truism to say that leaders must lead. But what kind of leader are you going to be? This is primarily a spiritual book. It seeks to explore what has often been called the Golden Rule: treat people the way you want to be treated. The vision of Hitler or Stalin or Pol Pot has no place in these writings-but the ability to create, shape, and explain a vision is important. This vision needs to be anchored in a certainty that breeds enthusiasm in those who are following: "This is do-able." Not only Gandhi, Churchill, and Roosevelt, but also you and me are called to lead in certain circumstances- and conviction is necessary.

I lead with the force of Spirit.

Change Is

One of the great paradoxes of life is that change is the only absolute.

Change is inevitable. Either we learn enough that we will simply desire a change, or we will find ourselves in enough pain that we have no choice but to change.
