Step Up to Your Potential

Step Up to Your Potential

For century upon century, the city of Jerusalem has been fought over by the world, and far too much blood has been spilled on her streets. But from a kabbalistic perspective, we know that where there is a lot of Light, there will also be a lot of conflict and difficulties.

The same holds true in our lives. When we have difficulties, this is telling us that we can do and accomplish much more with ourselves than we do. If we don’t have to struggle, then life just goes on placidly; it’s a little like we aren’t doing much of anything.

Now I am not saying that we should ask for difficulties. But the more difficulties that we face in our lifetime, the higher we are forced “to be” or “not to be.” Will we step up to the plate of our potential? Or will we remain complacently where we are?

We are presented with this choice in numerous ways every day. How do we react to an employee or a business partner who may have irritated us? How do we perceive things that others do? When we do something, are we thinking about ourselves alone? Or are we thinking about how we can do what we need to do for ourselves, but also—more importantly—for someone else?
