The energy of this week is
very powerful because it has the undoubted ability to effect healing for us and for
the world.
We read about Pinchas, who—without a thought for himself—went
out to stop a plague from destroying an entire people. From this simple yet
powerful action, we are reminded that the most important aspect of spirituality
is the concept of sharing.
Sometimes, we think that it’s other people
who have the ability to share—spiritual teachers or people who have dedicated
their lives in some way to be there for others in some capacity. But in truth,
each and every one of us, no matter what our vocation, has the responsibility to
share Light in the world.
I’d like to suggest a little exercise that can
help us reconnect to the spiritual, sharing part of ourselves. Quite simply, we
can ask the question: What if this was the last day of our life? What would we
do with it? How would we treat those we love and those around us?
Suddenly, the things around us and many of our petty difficulties would
have little meaning. We would realize that they are neither significant nor
necessary, and we would cling instead to what is really important.
This
week, we have the opportunity to form a union between the Light and ourselves,
to let go of the focus on what we have done “wrong” today and instead focus on
what we can do better tomorrow.
