WHAT'S NEXT?

A car commercial recently caught my attention. While showcasing a new line of products with innovative bells and whistles, the narrator says, “Trophies and awards can lift you up, but they can also hold you back. Unless you ask, ‘What’s next?’”

The first idea I grabbed from this was that if we remain open, we can find wisdom even in the most unlikely places – yes, even in a car commercial! But there is a more important lesson that the commercial conveys, and one that is very timely as it pertains to the teachings of kabbalah.

There is an energy in the cosmos this week that could make us prone to nostalgia. We may find ourselves taking several trips down memory lane, feeling a bit like old Ed Bundy. If you’ll recall, Ed was a character on the television sitcom “Married with Children.” He was a bit of a couch potato, and from his comfy seat on his couch, Ed would recall his glory days of tackling touchdowns for the high school football team.

We all have a little of this quality within us. We find comfort in the pride of our past, whether it’s the trophies we have won, the business deals we have made, or even the children we have raised.

The truth is, no matter who you are, all that you have accomplished so far is merely a glimpse of all you can achieve. It is because we rest on the laurels of yesterday that we become satiated, and the hunger that once drove us to manifest great things diminishes.

It is important to be proud of ourselves, and to appreciate all that we have done, but not at the expense of our continued growth.

Even if you’re 85 years old, have found the cure for a deadly virus, and won the Nobel Peace Prize – as long as you are here on this Earth, there is always more to be done.

What we have achieved until now is limited, but the potential of all we can do remains limitless. Asking ourselves “What’s next?” can propel us towards earning even greater heights of fulfillment.

ENOUGH IS NEVER ENOUGH

I will not settle for less, in any area of my life. I want everything that is possible. I let go of all limitations that prevent me from having it all, including eternal happiness, and peace on Earth.

All things wonderful are possible, and I will make them a part of my daily existence.
